One of HEARD’s post doc fellows, Dr Marcia Mutambara, recently had the opportunity to present at an online conference hosted by the Paris Center for Sociological and Political Research (CRESPPA), titled: The Gender of Borders. HEARD and the AIDS & Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA) are hosting a webinar to discuss the impact of COVID-19 national measures on the community led HIV response. HEARD will present findings from a rapid assessment among 25 civil society organisations involved in the HIV response across the SADC region, followed by a panel discussion, facilitated by ARASA's executive director Felicita Hikuam, on how to sustain this response in the face of ongoing and future health crises.

HEARD researchers form part of an informal gender and COVID-19 working group which is aimed at fostering discussion around the gendered impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak and responses, as well as identifying opportunities to address these.
