UNAIDS (2013/14): Discussion Paper of the UNAIDS Strategy Brief for Integrating Disability into AIDS Programming

UNAIDS (2013/14): Discussion Paper of the UNAIDS Strategy Brief for Integrating Disability into AIDS Programming

Overview:

At the 2012 International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC, Deputy Executive Director, Jan Beagle participated at HEARD’s skills-building workshop “HIV Policy and National Programming: How to Include the World’s Largest Minority?” and highlighted that UNAIDS is developing a “Strategy for Integrating Disability into AIDS Programmes” – a tool which offers a guide for UNAIDS and partners to develop and review NSP across the globe in terms of their disability-inclusiveness. UNAIDS then sought HEARD’s technical assistance to review the draft strategic document through a wide-ranging and inclusive consultation process.

Objectives:

To support the UNAIDS Secretariat in developing a UNAIDS strategy on disability by helping to coordinate the review process; reporting to UNAIDS on findings from the review process including feedback received, and supporting the development of an outline of UNAIDS strategy on disability, which sets out areas for action and how to ensure their operationalisation.
