New report published on men and boys and their sexual reproductive health
HEARD is pleased to announce the publication of a report titled “Men and Boys and their SRHR: A Situational-Based Needs Assessment Study in five countries in UNFPA/ESARO East and Southern Africa”.
This study assesses the structural, social and behavioural factors influencing the uptake of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services among adolescent boys and young men aged 18 to 34 years at selected sites in Lesotho, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
This research project was led by HEARD and undertaken for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) under the banner of the 2gether 4 SRHR Programme, the Joint United Nations Regional Programme that aims to improve the SRHR of all people in the region.
The study highlights significant sexual risk behaviours, inequitable gender attitudes and knowledge gaps about sexual and reproductive health among adolescent boys and young men.
