HEARD researcher Dr Sean Beckett presented at the annual research colloquium, UKZN College of Law and Management Studies on the 15th of October. The theme of the colloquium was “research without boundaries: bridging disciplines, building sustainable futures & transforming society”. The programme brought together researchers across law, management and related fields to discuss how interdisciplinary work can address pressing social challenges, including those in health policy and systems. Dr Beckett’s presentation was titled “Marketisation of public health care and South Africa’s push for universal health coverage”. His presentation focused on the influence of South Africa’s National Health Insurance scheme’s push for marketisation on the public health care system.
