Yumba holds a Master’s degree in Gender Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Master’s degree in Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights from the University of Pretoria. Her prior work has focused on educating women about gender-based violence, women’s empowerment, sexuality and HIV and AIDS. Yumba’s most recent work through the Foundation for Human Rights has focused particularly on educating women in South Africa about their sexual reproductive health rights. Her research interests include disability, adolescent sexual and reproductive rights, female genital mutilation, maternal mortality, forced sterilisation and sexual violence.
