Joyce Mlay

Joyce’s PhD research is a pilot randomised control trial that focuses on developing and testing unconditional cash transfer strategies among young adults with first-episode psychosis in South Africa. She holds a Master of Science in Tropical Disease Control, specialising in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, Tanzania. She has previously worked as an assistant lecturer at Hubert Kairuki Memorial University in Tanzania.
Once she graduates, she plans to return to Tanzania and assist in capacity building through postgraduate teaching. Her areas of interest in research include; Epidemiology, Community Health, HIV, Reproductive Health, and Malaria.
