- Gender, masculinities and HIV
Dr Roselyn Kanyemba is a post-doctoral research fellow working on masculinities and HIV.
She holds a PhD in anthropology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her thesis focused on the normalisation of sexist humour in the higher education setting and showed how misogyny masquerading as humour has become institutionalised and embedded in daily lives of students in tertiary institutions. It showed how toxic masculinity fueled violence. Kanyemba said she always approaches her work from feminist anthropological perspective.
