In this week’s the Lancet, Dr Jesper Sundewall, researcher at HEARD, comments on the most recent publication on Global Health Spending for SDG 3 (Healthy lives and wellbeing) by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). The IHME article shows that global health spending for SDG 3 has increased, but progress is uneven between countries and focus areas. In his comment to the article, Jesper argues that while there is general interest in understanding health spending trends, the analysis would have been even more useful if conducted from the perspective of health policy makers.
