Stephanie Nixon joined HEARD in 2005 as a post-doctoral fellow and is now a Research Associate. Stephanie has a PhD and MSc from the University of Toronto and a BHSc (Physiotherapy) from McMaster University in Canada. Stephanie has a particular interest in HIV as it intersects with globalisation, disability, ethics and/or vaccines. She uses qualitative methods with a critical social science perspective. Stephanie's primary affiliation is with the University of Toronto where she is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine Department of Physical Therapy. She is the Academic Director of the International Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation (ICDR) and is also cross-appointed with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and is a member of the Joint Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto.
She is currently working on an evaluation of a HIV Prevention Programme of a faith-based organisation, the Economic Globalisation, Growth and HIV/AIDS Project and the HIV/AIDS and Disability Project.
