Published in the Industrial Law Journal, Vol 29, 2008, pp 22 - 42.

This article critically examines the provisions of South African labour law regulating the combination of paid work and caregiving. With reference to selected international comparators, the article examines the adequacy of South African labour legislation in provision of measures to address the combination of paid work and caregiving. It concludes that South African legislation does not adequately address the combination of work and care and suggests areas for legislative reform.
