Planning for HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa
HEARD's "Planning for HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa" is the organisation's flagship Policy Research workshop, focusing on the need to anticipate the medium and long-term social and economic consequences of HIV/AIDS in the region, and designed for senior professionals concerned with strategising for the economic, social, demographic, human resource, ethical and legal implications of the epidemic for their constituencies and beyond.

Typical profiles of participants have been government ministry planners, AIDS programme managers, donor staff, NGO workers, private sector employees, local government and military officers, and academics, spanning a diverse mix of sector experience, geographic area and interest. The 2007 Workshop, held in Durban from 16-27 July, was the last in this series to be hosted by HEARD; with several content innovations and high-level specialist facilitation, this year's programme was a resounding success.
