Nonhlanhla Mkwena

nonhlanhla.jpgNonhlanhla began working at HEARD in January 2005 as a Research Assistant, she was then promoted to Senior Research Assistant.

Her duties include; updating the log book and logging interviews, supervising Research Assistants and field drivers, allocation of households, overseeing filed activities, representing the project and responsible for public address, handling research and ethical questions that arise in the field and mobilizing teams according to households to be interviewed.


Nonhlanhla's main project focus is on ACHWRP and ABBA. The Programme focuses on the well-being of Children and intervention strategies on orphans and vulnerable children. It best describes concepts of vulnerability among children and households (socio-economic; health and risky behaviors).

They both are a longitudinal study looking at describing the impact of parental death on well-being of children in Amajuba District and they use research findings to inform child welfare agencies!

Nonhlanhla has a National Diploma in Human Resources Management Majoring in Business Management, Personnel Management and Management of Training.
