Maria de los Angeles Cabrera Escobar graduated with an Economics degree from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), Mexico City in 1996 and Master’s degree in epidemiology with a year of health economics from the National Institute of Public Health, Mexico in 2002.

She has been working in South Africa for 3 years, she worked is Enhancing Care Initiative from April to 2005 to December 2006. She joined HEARD in January 2007 as a health economist researcher. Maria is involved in two projects at HEARD. The first project being the ORACTA Project and the second being the ADOLESCENTS Project. Both these projects fit into Programme 1. ORACTA helps to answer Question 2; Effective responses and the Adolescents Project assists in answering Question 1; Key drivers and Impacts – and is associated to the ACHWPP Phase 2.
