In addition to that she completed her dissertation (PHD) on “The notions of disability in the context of HIV/AIDS in KwaZulu-Natal”. Her fields of expertise are concepts of disease and disability in Zulu cosmology, mainstreaming and inclusion, gender relations, abuse and sexual harassment as well as the socio-cultural aspects of HIV/AIDS. Her current study looks into sexual decision making of young people in KwaZulu-Natal. Jill Hanass-Hancock joined HEARD on a Post-Doc fellowship in February 2008. She graduated (BA/MA in education) at the Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Her work experiences include special education and educational psychology.
