World AIDS Conference. Vienna, Austria, July, 2010
Vienna, Australia is hosting an HIV/AIDS conference in July 2010. This conference will focus on HIV/AIDS pathogenesis. HIV/AIDS and disability topics will also be included in the conference. As a conference on HIV pathogenesis, treatment and prevention series, IAS 2010 will feature reports on the latest developments in the areas of basic, clinical and prevention science. Following its first conference in 2007, the Centre for Rehabilitation Studies at Stellenbosch University hosted the second African Network for Evidence-to-Action on Disability (AfriNEAD) symposium from 30 November to 3 December 2009 in Cape Town. The theme of the symposium was The ABC of research evidence-to-action: putting UNCRDP principles into action for rights-based change. The International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) took place from 3 - 7 December 2008. It hosted an African AIDS Conference in Dakar together with other organisations. The aim of the conference was to maintain the progress that has been achieved so far in preventing upcoming HIV infections and making sure that people infected with HIV have access to antiretroviral treatment. African Campaign on Disability and HIV, March, 2008
The first African Campaign on Disability and HIV/AIDS took place from 23 - 25 January 2007 in Cape Town. The purpose of the campaign was to work towards a goal of reducing the vulnerability of people with disabilities in Africa. The second General Meeting of the African Campaign was held from 11 - 13 March 2008 in Kampala, Uganda. African countries came together to share and agree on actions to be taken to encourage the participation of people with disabilities on HIV/AIDS issues. The third African Campaign discussed how HIV/AIDS and disability projects of various countries differ significantly from each other. For more information visit: www.africacampaign.info.
