Working to Advance Health Equity in Africa

About

Professional development

We view professional development as an integral part to the success of our achievements. We support our staff with mentoring, local and international conference participation, collaborations with partners and colleagues, and technical training. Our professional development initiatives fall within our performance management framework, in which both operational and academic staff are provided with an opportunity to plan their progression.

Work-life

All staff enjoy the benefits of HEARD’s association with the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal including a range of eating outlets nearby, discounted gym membership, and working from a campus combining state of the art infrastructure with beautiful natural surroundings, located within an environmental conservancy just 8km from the CBD of Durban. UKZN’s academic credibility, support services, and access privileges further benefit research staff at HEARD. Operating in an academic environment, collaborations with academic staff of different disciplines at UKZN, and visiting research fellows further ensures a constant stream of fresh and diverse perspectives driving HEARD’s research agenda.
